Subscription Plans & Billing
Built For Greatness, Inc. (“BFG”, “we”, “our”, “us”) provides AI-assisted spiritual guidance and devotional tools through the BFG Handbook Companion at builtforgreatness.com/companion/ and the BFG mobile app. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to these Terms of Service.
Plan tiers and monthly limits
Limits reset on the 1st of every calendar month (UTC). All prices are in US Dollars and billed monthly through our payment processor (Stripe). You can cancel at any time from your account settings.

*The Unlimited plan question count is a hidden fair-use ceiling — see the Fair Use Policy below.
Billing & renewals
- Subscriptions automatically renew each month on the same day of the month you signed up.
- You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops the next billing cycle; you keep access through the remainder of the current paid period.
- If you upgrade mid-cycle, you are charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the current cycle and immediately receive the higher plan’s monthly limits.
- If you downgrade mid-cycle, the change takes effect at the next renewal.
- We do not refund partial months in the case of voluntary cancellation. Refunds for technical issues, accidental purchases, or chargebacks are handled case-by-case at our discretion. Email [email protected] within 14 days of charge.
- Failed payments will be retried by Stripe over a 7-day period. Repeated failure suspends the account until payment is restored.
Recurring authorization
By subscribing, you authorize BFG and our payment processor (Stripe) to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis at the then-current price for your plan, including any applicable taxes, until you cancel.
Promotional codes
Promotional codes (e.g. "ALPHA") provide a discount or free period only for the time specified by the code. After the promotional period ends, your subscription continues at the full plan price unless you cancel before the next billing date. Your payment method is required at signup even if the promotional code provides a $0 first month.
Chargebacks — contact us first
Before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute with your card issuer, you agree to first contact [email protected] and give us 5 business days to resolve the issue. Chargebacks filed without prior contact may result in immediate account termination and may be contested with the card issuer.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices at any time. Existing subscribers will receive at least 30 days notice by email before any price change takes effect on their account. If you do not cancel before the change takes effect, you accept the new price.
Currency, taxes, and fees
All prices are in US Dollars. Your card issuer may charge foreign-transaction or currency-conversion fees outside the US. Applicable sales tax or VAT, if any, is determined by your billing location and added at checkout.
Fair Use Policy — Unlimited Plan
Our “Unlimited” subscription is intended for normal personal use by a single individual. To protect the service from abuse, automated querying, or sharing of accounts, the Unlimited plan is subject to the following monthly fair-use ceilings:
- 2,000 questions per month (~66 per day on average — far above any reasonable personal devotional use)
- 100 audio listens per month (~3 per day on average)
- 100 translations per month (~3 per day on average)
These ceilings are designed to be impossible to reach in normal personal use. Faithful and Disciple plans have their own monthly ceilings shown in the table above. If you reach a ceiling, the relevant feature pauses for the remainder of the month and resets on the 1st.
We reserve the right to adjust these ceilings, suspend, throttle, or rate-limit accounts that exhibit:
- Automated, scripted, or programmatic queries
- Account sharing across multiple users or devices
- Unusual usage patterns inconsistent with personal devotional study
- Activity that disrupts the service for other users
- Attempts to circumvent the rate limits or modify client-side enforcement
Built For Greatness, Inc. reserves the right to update this Fair Use Policy at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We will notify subscribers by email at least 7 days before any change that lowers a published ceiling.
Mental Health, Crisis Situations & Professional Help
Spiritual learning tool — not a medical or mental health service
The BFG Handbook Companion is a spiritual learning and devotional tool rooted in Catholic teaching and the BFG Handbook. It is not a medical service, mental health service, counseling service, psychotherapy service, or substitute for any of these. The AI-generated responses, audio readings, prayers, scripture references, and saint reflections are for spiritual reflection and faith formation only.
No professional relationship is created
By using this Service, you acknowledge and agree that no doctor-patient, therapist-client, counselor-client, attorney-client, financial-advisor-client, or any other professional relationship is created between you and Built For Greatness, HansonEllis, their operators, owners, contributors, or any party involved in providing the Service. The Service is not staffed by licensed medical professionals, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, counselors, therapists, or attorneys, and no output of the Service should be construed as medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, or financial advice.
You agree to seek qualified professional help when needed
You agree that if you are experiencing any of the following, you will stop using this Service and seek qualified professional help immediately:
- Thoughts of suicide, self-harm, or harming others
- Severe depression, anxiety, panic attacks, or other mental health crises
- Active addiction or substance abuse requiring intervention
- Domestic violence, abuse, or unsafe living situations
- Any medical, psychiatric, or psychological emergency
- Serious spiritual crises requiring in-person pastoral or sacramental care

Assumption of risk; release of liability
Your use of the BFG Handbook Companion is entirely at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you expressly agree that Built For Greatness, HansonEllis, and their respective owners, officers, employees, contractors, agents, partners, licensors, and affiliates (collectively, the "Released Parties") shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including but not limited to damages for emotional distress, mental anguish, personal injury, wrongful death, loss of profits, goodwill, use, or data — arising from or related to:
- Your use of, or inability to use, the Service;
- Any decision, action, or inaction you take based on Service output;
- Any failure on your part or another person's part to seek professional help in a timely manner;
- The accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of any AI-generated content, scripture reference, saint reflection, prayer, audio rendering, or translation;
- Any third-party content, link, or service referenced by the Service.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. In such jurisdictions, the Released Parties' liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, demands, losses, liabilities, damages, judgments, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your reliance on, or interpretation of, any Service output; (c) your failure to seek appropriate professional help; (d) any harm you cause to yourself or others by acting or failing to act on Service output; or (e) your violation of these Terms.
"As is" / "As available"
The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including, without limitation, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components.
Severability and survival
If any portion of this Section is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. This Section shall survive termination of your account and termination of these Terms.
AI-Generated Output and Accuracy
The Service uses third-party artificial intelligence (including OpenAI and Google Cloud services) to generate responses, audio readings, translations, and saint or scripture references. AI systems are imperfect and can produce inaccurate, incomplete, biased, outdated, or misleading information, including (without limitation) incorrect historical facts about saints, mistranslated or misquoted Scripture, theological errors, prayers attributed to the wrong source, factual errors about Catholic teaching, and "hallucinated" content that sounds plausible but is not true.
You agree that you will:
- Treat all AI-generated output as a starting point for personal reflection, not as definitive truth.
- Verify any factual claim, scripture citation, theological position, or saint biography with authoritative sources (the Catechism of the Catholic Church, an approved Catholic Bible translation, a parish priest, or a competent theologian) before relying on it.
- Not present AI-generated output as the official teaching of the Catholic Church or as professional advice of any kind.
Not Affiliated With or Endorsed by the Catholic Church
Built For Greatness is an independent Catholic evangelization ministry. We are not officially affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or speaking on behalf of the Holy See, the Vatican, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), any diocese, any religious order, or any official organ of the Catholic Church. References to Catholic teaching, saints, scripture, popes, doctors of the Church, or any Catholic figure are made for educational and devotional purposes only and do not constitute the official position of any Catholic body. The Service is not a substitute for the sacraments, the magisterium of the Church, the spiritual direction of a priest, or any form of pastoral care. If you require sacramental ministry, confession, or formal spiritual direction, please contact a Catholic parish.
Age Requirements
The Service is intended for users who are at least thirteen (13) years of age. Users between 13 and 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service, and a parent or legal guardian must establish and pay for any subscription. Users under 13 are prohibited from using the Service. If we discover that a user is under 13, we will terminate that account. By creating an account or subscribing, you represent and warrant that you meet these age requirements and (if a minor) that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
User-Submitted Content
The questions, area-of-life selections, and other inputs you submit to the Service ("User Content") remain your property. By submitting User Content, you grant Built For Greatness a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to process the content for the limited purpose of generating a response, training service quality, and improving the Service in aggregated, anonymized form. You represent and warrant that your User Content (a) does not violate any third party's rights, (b) does not contain unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or harmful material, and (c) does not constitute personally identifiable information about a third party that you do not have permission to share. We may remove or refuse to process any User Content at our sole discretion.
Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right;
- Generate content that is hateful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, sexually explicit, or that promotes self-harm or harm to others;
- Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with security, rate-limiting, billing, or quota features of the Service;
- Scrape, copy, or systematically extract Service output for redistribution, resale, or training of other AI models;
- Misrepresent Service output as the personal teaching of any priest, bishop, religious order, or the Catholic Church;
- Impersonate another person or share an account in violation of our subscription terms;
- Send spam, malware, or any automated or bulk requests; or
- Use the Service in connection with any illegal activity.
We may immediately suspend or terminate any account that violates this Acceptable Use policy, with or without notice and without refund.
Third-Party Services
The Service depends on third-party providers, including without limitation OpenAI (AI text generation), Google Cloud (text-to-speech and translation), Stripe (payment processing), Cloudflare (content delivery and security), and our hosting provider. We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their availability, performance, content, terms, or privacy practices. Outages, errors, or changes by any third-party provider may affect the Service. You agree that we are not liable for any failure of a third-party service.
Force Majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, fires, floods, pandemics, epidemics, terrorism, war, civil unrest, governmental action, internet or telecommunications outages, third-party service outages, AI provider service interruptions, or labor disputes.
Modifications to the Service and These Terms
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time, with or without notice. We may also revise these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of these Terms reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated by email or by a notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.
Limitation of Liability Cap
In addition to the assumption of risk and release of liability set forth above, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total cumulative liability of the Released Parties to you for any and all claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100). This limitation applies regardless of the cause of action, whether in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise, even if the Released Parties have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Governing Law, Venue, and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. The exclusive venue for any dispute not subject to arbitration (as set forth below) shall be the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Mandatory Binding Arbitration
Except for claims for injunctive relief or claims that may be brought in small-claims court, any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by JAMS (or another mutually agreed arbitration provider) under its then-current Streamlined Arbitration Rules. The arbitration shall be conducted in English in Los Angeles County, California, by a single arbitrator. The arbitrator's decision is final and binding, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. Each party shall bear its own costs and attorneys' fees, except as the arbitrator may otherwise direct.
Class Action and Jury Trial Waiver
You and Built For Greatness each waive any right to a jury trial. You agree that any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis only. You waive the right to participate as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate or join the claims of multiple persons and may award relief only on an individual basis.
Time Limit for Claims
Any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service must be filed within one (1) year after the claim or cause of action arose, or it will be permanently barred. Some jurisdictions do not allow the shortening of statutes of limitation, in which case this provision shall apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Entire Agreement; No Waiver; Assignment
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Built For Greatness concerning the Service and supersede all prior agreements. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign these Terms freely.

California Auto-Renewal Law (CARL) Disclosure
If you reside in California, the following disclosure is provided in compliance with California Business & Professions Code §§ 17600-17606:
- Automatic renewal: Paid subscriptions to the Service automatically renew on a monthly basis at the same recurring price disclosed on the Subscribe page, charged to the payment method on file, until you cancel.
- Cancellation: You may cancel at any time through your account at My Account → Cancel subscription, or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you keep access until then.
- Price changes: We will notify you in advance by email of any change to the recurring price; the new price will not take effect until your next renewal after the notice.
- Free trials (if offered): Any free or discounted trial automatically converts to a paid subscription at the standard price unless cancelled before the end of the trial. We will not charge you during a free trial without prior consent.
Refund Policy
All subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. We do not provide refunds or credits for partial subscription periods, unused features, or accounts cancelled mid-cycle. If you believe you were charged in error, contact [email protected] within 30 days of the charge and we will review the request in good faith. California residents may have additional rights under California Civil Code § 1789.3.
HIPAA Notice — Not a Covered Entity
Built For Greatness is not a "covered entity" or "business associate" under the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ("HIPAA") or any analogous state law. The Service is not designed to receive, process, or store Protected Health Information (PHI). You agree NOT to submit PHI, medical records, prescriptions, diagnoses, or any other health information through the Service. If you do, you do so at your own risk and we have no HIPAA obligations with respect to that information.
DMCA Safe Harbor and Copyright Infringement Notice
Built For Greatness respects the intellectual property rights of others and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512 ("DMCA"). If you believe content available through the Service infringes your copyright, send a written notice containing all of the following to our designated DMCA agent:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent;
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed;
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location on the Service (URL or detailed description);
- Your contact information (name, address, phone, email);
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on its behalf.
Send notices to: DMCA Agent — Built For Greatness, c/o HansonEllis, Torrance, CA, email [email protected] with subject line "DMCA Notice". We may remove or disable access to allegedly infringing material and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. Misrepresenting infringement may subject you to liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
California Resident Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act), California residents have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell; (b) delete personal information; (c) correct inaccurate personal information; (d) opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and (e) limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 45 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
International Users / Geographic Availability
The Service is operated from the United States and is intended for use by residents of the United States. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to, and processing in, the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those of your country of residence. The Service may not be available, or may be subject to local law, in other jurisdictions. You are responsible for compliance with all local laws applicable to your use of the Service. If your use of the Service would violate applicable export-control or sanctions laws (including, without limitation, U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctions), you are prohibited from using the Service.
Audio and Output — No Redistribution
Audio recordings, PDFs, translations, prayers, and other output generated by the Service are licensed to you for your personal, non-commercial spiritual use only. You may not (a) redistribute, broadcast, podcast, or publicly perform Service output for compensation; (b) post Service output on any website, app, or social platform in a manner that is monetized; (c) use Service output to train any artificial-intelligence model or as input to any machine-learning system; (d) attribute Service output to any clergy, theologian, or other professional; or (e) remove, alter, or obscure any attribution Built For Greatness includes in the output (such as watermarks or footer credits in PDFs). Limited personal sharing with family and small prayer groups is permitted.
Anti-Reverse-Engineering and Anti-Scraping
You agree NOT to (a) reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code, AI prompts, system instructions, model weights, or proprietary content underlying the Service; (b) use any robot, spider, scraper, or automated means to access the Service except as expressly permitted by our public APIs; (c) probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or any related network; or (d) attempt to bypass any rate-limit, quota, paywall, or security mechanism. Violation of this section is a material breach of these Terms and may also violate the U.S. Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (18 U.S.C. § 1030) and similar laws.
Equitable Relief Carve-Out
Notwithstanding the arbitration provision above, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property, confidential information, or to enforce the Acceptable Use, Anti-Reverse-Engineering, or Audio Redistribution restrictions. Seeking such relief in court does not waive any other right under these Terms.
No Fiduciary, Agency, or Spiritual-Direction Relationship
Nothing in these Terms or in your use of the Service creates a fiduciary, agency, partnership, joint-venture, employment, attorney-client, doctor-patient, therapist-client, priest-penitent, or spiritual-direction relationship between you and Built For Greatness. The Service is not a substitute for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession), spiritual direction by an ordained priest or trained spiritual director, pastoral counseling, or any other form of personal Catholic ministry. For sacramental ministry, contact a Catholic priest at your local parish.
Survival
The following sections survive termination or expiration of these Terms and continue to bind the parties: Mental Health (Assumption of Risk; Release of Liability; Indemnification); AI-Generated Output and Accuracy; Not Affiliated With or Endorsed by the Catholic Church; HIPAA Notice; User-Submitted Content (license grant); Acceptable Use; Audio and Output — No Redistribution; Anti-Reverse-Engineering; Limitation of Liability Cap; Governing Law and Dispute Resolution (including arbitration and class-action waiver); Time Limit for Claims; Entire Agreement; Equitable Relief Carve-Out; and this Survival clause.
Construction and Interpretation
The headings used in these Terms are for convenience only and shall not affect the interpretation of any provision. The words "include", "including", and "such as" mean "including without limitation". Singular includes plural and vice versa. References to a gender include all genders. If a provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remainder of these Terms shall continue in full force and effect, and the invalid provision shall be reformed to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving its intent. No rule of construction shall be applied against the drafter of these Terms.
Notices
Notices to you may be sent by email to the address associated with your account, by posting to your account, or by a notice within the Service, and shall be deemed received when sent or posted. Notices to Built For Greatness must be sent by email to [email protected] AND by U.S. mail to the support address listed at the bottom of these Terms; notices not sent by both methods are not deemed received for legal purposes.
Termination and Account Suspension
Built For Greatness, Inc. reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate your account and subscription at any time, with or without notice, and for any reason or no reason, including but not limited to:
- Violation of these Terms of Service or our Fair Use Policy
- Abusive, fraudulent, or unlawful activity
- Sharing your account with other users or devices
- Automated, scripted, or excessive use of the service
- Behavior that disrupts the service for other users
- Chargebacks, payment disputes, or failed payments
- Misuse of the AI guidance feature, including attempts to elicit responses contrary to the BFG ministry’s mission
- Any other reason at our sole discretion
If we terminate your account for cause (any of the above), you forfeit any unused portion of your current billing period and will not receive a refund.
If we terminate without cause, we will pro-rate any prepaid amount for the unused remainder of your current billing period.
Your right to cancel
You may cancel your subscription at any time:
- Through your account settings at /my-account/
- By emailing [email protected]
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you retain access until then. You will receive an email confirmation of cancellation within 24 hours.
This Section survives termination of your account.
