had never discussed with Keith before.
After numerous efforts to save his life, including a final
amputation above the knee, his father was no longer responsive.
Ultimately, Keith honored his father’s wish to return to God
peacefully. On September 5, 2024, at 1:21 PM, after the nurse
removed his life support, his father passed away peacefully two
hours later at 3:21 PM. However, the official time of death was
recorded as 3:22 PM, as it took a minute for the nurse to confirm
his passing. Although doctors predicted he would only survive
about ten minutes without life support, his father lived for two hours,
which Keith saw as a miraculous sign of God’s presence. The
moment held profound meaning, as his father’s passing coincided
with Keith’s own birthday, March 21 (3:21). Just minutes before his
death, Keith experienced a profound spiritual awareness that his
father was ready to return home to his Father in heaven.
The funeral service was held on September 20, 2024, at
Christ Cathedral, with Bishop Kevin W. Vann, Fr. Bao, Fr. Michael,
and Fr. David presiding. Keith’s father was laid to rest in the
Gratitude Christ Cathedral Memorial Gardens. A year earlier,
Keith’s father arranged for his grandparents’ ashes to be brought
over from Vietnam, fulfilling his wish to be laid to rest near his
parents, Hoàng Van Mao (Ông Chánh Mao) and Nguyễn Thì Ty
(Ba Van).
After meeting many relatives on his father’s side, Keith
developed a deeper appreciation for his family’s history and his
