The saying, “All will be well, and all will be well, and in the end, all manner of
being will be well,” is attributed to the mystic Julian of Norwich. There is a
hint of that teaching in this chapter, including the very positive title
            Restoration.

Although the rising and falling of all things will end, and “from dust we came
and to dust we will return,” reminding us of our mortality, there is one who is
eternal, impartial, unchanging, and that one is God. But God, for the
Christian, is not an autonomous force dominating creation. Rather, as we
have already said, God is an interpersonal, intimate, loving relationship,
family, Trinity, perichoresis, or divine dance, giving us life and sharing holy
            life with us.

The one who is of heaven and is eternal, the Son of God, has become one
with creation and humanity so that we might become divine. He was dead
but is risen to a new, eternal life he desires to share with us. That is both
restoration and an even greater transformation. As Julian of Norwich might
put it, everything will turn out for the good, and all will be well, and
            everything will be well.
